Whats Up Sports Fans!?

So today I want to chit chat about happiness for a few.  What is happiness and how the hell do you get it if you don't have it?

Well if you step back in time to remember a guy named Maslow, you might remember his "Hierarchy of Needs."  On the standard pyramid you have: Physiological, Safety, Love/Belonging, Esteem, and Self-Actualization.

However, how is it that third world countries that often times have trouble just fulfilling the first two levels, are actually much happier than "we" are sitting around with more shit than we really need?  How is their "safety" higher than ours, when they could actually be killed in random gun fire, or by a damn wild animal or whatever?

Could it be that the good old brainless box has programmed you into living in a constant state of fear?  Does it have you jumping at shadows, even though those shadows don't even really exist?  Have you been programmed to constantly worry about shit that will probably never even happen?

So, if people who live in a REAL "safety" issues can still live in happiness, then how do we go about doing the same?  Well you could start by turning off the TV and opening a book, or going outside, or actually talking with someone ... but I shall not try to make miracles happen.  

I will simply try to impose one idea on you.  The biggest difference between the person living in a hut with a dirt floor (who is happy) and you ... is how they THINK about things.  Yes, the ancient idea that it is not "things" that really bother us, but how we "think" about those things, is actually very true.

What does this mean for you?  Learn how to change how you think, and gain the key to changing your life!  You see, any second of any day, one can change who they are ... as soon as they realize that doing so is actually possible!  Once you realize that you don't need a "key" to escape your prison, because you were never really in prison; you become freer than you just were.  

I avoid saying "totally free" as many of us live in multiple "prisons" of the mind.  However, getting out of the next is the same as getting out of the first.  You change how you think ~ which changes how you feel, how you act, how you respond, your choices, what you focus on, your motivation, your desires ... when you change how you think, it changes everything!

Here is a truth, as I have come to find.  You do not get what you "want" in life, you get what you "expect."  Therefore, a key to happiness is learning to "expect what you want!"  Choose to have a wonderful day, and an amazing life!  Expect great and amazing things to happen!
