Hello Sports Fans!
Most people know that the 'health' of our country and even the world is getting worse and worse and for many different reasons. BUT did you know about 3-4-50? 3 Behaviors
4 Diseases
OVER 50 Percent of DEATHS! As I used to tell many of my personal training clients as well as the majority of my mental health patients ... you can EITHER ~ take the time to invest in your health OR you can be FORCED to address your health when you get SICK!
Hello Sports Fans!
Well its time to get back on the horse with Wim Hof breathing and some of the exercises in tying mind and body together! Thus far today I've done 4 rounds of breathing with exhale holds of:
Come join me in getting back into the routine and feel free to post your scores or ask any questions you might have! For those that don't have the app yet or haven't tried Wim Hof, below is a guided breathing session for you :) Hello again Sports Fans!
Today we are going to look at who you might want to consider 'trimming' out of your social life. I'll let you decide based on some information I provide for you to think about ... Your REAL friends want to see you doing well and getting better in life. If you have people telling you that you can't do something or that you are going to fail at something or bringing you down when you talk about bettering your life ... you might have some dead weight. Strong people (meaning emotionally and successfully) NEVER tear other people down! Strong people are ALWAYS trying to help lift other people up and make them successful in life or business or relationships or whatever as well ... so if you have people kicking you while you are down ... you might have some dead weight. A HEALTHY relationship involves open communication and unconditional support of the other person WITHOUT hooks, or consequences, or demands, or if/then options, or whatever else ... so if you have relationships that are build on 'as long as' or 'if you, then I' concepts ... you might have some dead weight. The use of guilt, shame, fear, or otherwise when talking to someone else is manipulation and control ... pretty much period ... so if you have people who are always trying to guilt trip you or make you feel bad in some way ... you might have some dead weight. There are obviously other signs and clues as to who is dead weight and who is not but these are some very obvious ones that can get you started. Hello again Sports Fans!
Welcome to one of my favorite ranting topics ... the extreme bias in the mental health and medical fields! Let's jump right in! Take genetic studies on twins. First, even the BEST 'research' on twins only shows a 50% CORRELATION (very important that we point that term out) to whatever 'thing' they are saying is 'genetically driven' ... such as depression, or addiction, or whatever. They take their percent, which is closer to 20-35% on a regular basis, and say that the research 'proves' or is 'statistically significant' enough to say that 'the issue' is a genetic issue or genetically driven or whatever. The irony is ... they TOTALLY fucking dismiss the other 50-80% of the evidnce-based-based empirical research (that they base EVERYTHING on) that SHOWS it is DRIVEN by SOMETHING ELSE! Talk about being biased! Their OWN research PROVES that the 'issue' MUST be driven by other things, and more often than not, is driven by MUCH more than anything a genetic component could be involved with ... but THAT information holds no value to anyone? Or does it simply hold no value because if it isn't 'genetic' that it can't be 'blamed, named, and tamed' with a prescription pad and a pill? Which means ANY other outcome doesn't provide a profit for the 'clinical' industry. Much like most people's total ignorance of the fact that POWER WALKING just 3 days a week for 30 min does JUST as much as Zoloft does from day one and OUT PERFORMS Zoloft in the long run. And WHY are people ignorant of THAT study when it was done by Duke University clear back in 1999! Because there is NO MONEY in just telling people to power walk 3 days a week! AND you wouldn't want them getting healthier on all the other levels that regular exercise impacts because they were walking! Just one more reason I'm done helping big pharma and the organizations that profit from the perpetuation of managing sickness in our nation! Hello again Sports Fans!
Freud is quoted with saying "Before you start taking antidepressant medication, make sure you aren't just surrounded by assholes." Let's take a quick look at environment. Do seeds grow if you just throw them in the closed and shut the door? Does a fish thrive if you leave it on the shoreline? Do your feet fair well walking across hot black pavement on a hot summer day? Do humans thrive in the cold vacuum of space? Do you focus well in a crowded lunch room or auditorium? Do you sleep well on hot muggy nights when the AC is broken? Do you work well when your fingers are so cold you can't feel them? I could do this all day but hopefully you are beginning to see the pattern here (along with the subtle hint from the title). Our environment plays a DIRECT and VITAL role in not only our mental and physical performance but in our mental and physical health! The field of epigenetics came about when a scientist accidentally found out that his dishes of stem cells CHANGED depending on the environment that they were in! For those that aren't catching on yet, your environment impacts EVERYTHING from your current thinking and your current body temperature all the way down to your cellular genetic expression! This means that your environment is a MAJOR part of who you are, how you think, how you feel, how healthy you are, how successful you are, and on and on and on! So when you finally take time to 'look at you' and where you want to be or who you want to become ... make sure you are in the environment that is conducive to making those changes! As we are a series of never ending reciprocal feedback loops it is not surprising that it takes four pillars to help keep us healthy
Move Well ~ When we move well, we tend to sleep better, we create a drop in stress which helps us to relax better, and we tend to make better food choices ... The better sleep tends to give us more energy so we can move better again tomorrow, the better relaxation helps our bodies recover better so we can better move again tomorrow, the better food give us more energy and more effective repair of muscle so we can move better tomorrow ... And these can continue to loop around, back and forth, and across again and again and again. Each one reinforces itself and the others which in turn reinforces itself and the others ... its basically like a perpetual health engine! And it works the best when we 'act' in accordance with how we were designed to live :) |
